Why Do You Seek The Living Among The Dead? : Bishop Tony Samuels
Then, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee, saying, ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.’” - Luke 24:5-7 (NKJV)
As we celebrate this Resurrection Day, let us remember that this is the day that the Lord of Glory Conquered death. This day represents the day that the enemy of our soul was conquered. Today is so amazing! Look at what the Bible says in 1 Corinthians 2:8 (TPT): None of the rulers of this age or world perceived and recognized and understood this, for if they had, they would never have crucified the Lord of glory. They would have never crucified Him if they knew He would rise again; and because He is risen, you can rise above any situation that this life presents. On that morning, the two women went to the tomb expecting to find Jesus. No matter how noble their motives were to pay respects, it would have been an utter disappointment if He was still in that tomb.
This day represents the day that the Lord conquered all of our disappointments. Disappoint means: to fail to fulfill the expectations or wishes of; to defeat the fulfillment of (hopes, plans, etc.); thwart; frustrate. They went to that tomb expecting to see their hope locked up in a tomb; and what they found is their Hope had broken out of that tomb! In that moment, life came back into their hopes and dreams. This day represents this Truth, that you never have to live this life without hope, no matter how dark a situation may be. Jesus shows us that He is more than able to conquer what comes against our hopes and dreams, and now Him living in us produces this hope. Colossians 1:27 (TPT) says, Living within you is the Christ who floods you with the expectation of glory! This mystery of Christ, embedded within us, becomes a heavenly treasure chest of hope filled with the riches of glory for his people, and God wants everyone to know it!
This day represents the day that the Lord did exactly what He said He was going to do. The angel had to remind the women of what He told them before the crucifixion: that He would be delivered and crucified, but that He would rise again. It’s easy to remember what He said in the light, but we must really remember what He said when life gets dark. Psalms 119:55 (KJV) says, I have remembered thy name, O Lord, in the night, and have kept thy law. What is God doing? He is going to do exactly what He said He would do; it’s up to us to remember what He spoke.
The good thing about these women is, at least they were seeking Him. They didn’t let what happened stop them from seeking Him. They had experienced Him enough that they were not willing to go seek something else. Jesus always gives us an option. Look at John 6:67-69 (TPT): So Jesus said to his twelve, “And you—do you also want to leave?” Peter spoke up and said, “But Lord, where would we go? No one but you gives us the revelation of eternal life. We’re fully convinced that you are the Anointed One, the Son of the Living God, and we believe in you!” Once you encounter Jesus, you don’t want to go back seeking dead things. He is life, and if you make it your life’s purpose to be a seeker of Him, you will never be dissatisfied.
Psalms 91:14-16 (KJV) says, Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation. So, my brothers and sisters, it’s celebration time. He is alive!!! Don’t go back to seeking dead things. God has favored you to find the Creator of life, and He has given it all to us. Continue to seek the Living One, and you will live His resurrected life.
Happy Resurrection Day!!! He is ALIVE!!!
