The Unshakable Kingdom : Pastor Tony Samuels

Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.” The words “once more” indicate the removing of what can be shaken—that is, created things—so that what cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our “God is a consuming fire.” Hebrews 12:26-29 (NIV)

We are living in a time where our Christianity can no longer be based on a concept or religion; our Christianity must become a living reality. Colossians 1:13 (KJV) shows us this reality: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son. Notice, we have been translated into a new Kingdom; a Kingdom where the Lord is the Ruler.

So you may be asking: how is it that I live in America, and at the same time I represent the Kingdom of God? The Bible gives us a natural illustration that will help you to live in the reality of the Kingdom of God. 2 Corinthians 5:20 (AMP) says, So we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making His appeal through us; we [as Christ’s representatives] plead with you on behalf of Christ to be reconciled to God. An Ambassador is an official diplomat sent by a country as its official representative to a foreign country. So we are here as official representatives of the Kingdom of God. An Ambassador never loses the reality of the nation from which he came; he is on a mission.

As we look at the world around us, we can see over the past few years that things are being shaken. When something is shaken, anything that is not securely fastened to the object that is being shaken will be removed from the shaken object. It’s important that you don’t have a greater connection to the world then the Kingdom of God, Jesus said to be in the world but not of it.

1 John 2:15-17 (TPT) says, Don’t set the affections of your heart on this world or in loving the things of the world. The love of the Father and the love of the world are incompatible. For all that the world can offer us—the gratification of our flesh, the allurement of the things of the world, and the obsession with status and importance —none of these things come from the Father but from the world. This world and its desires are in the process of passing away, but those who love to do the will of God live forever. Notice, don’t set your affections on or love the things of the world; this world is passing away, and it’s time to develop a passion for the things of the Lord. Your affections actually reveal what Kingdom you are more attached to.

This Kingdom of God is ours, and we are told how to respond to it in Matthew 6:33 (TPT): So above all, constantly seek God’s kingdom and his righteousness, then all these less important things will be given to you abundantly. The only way we will not be shaken by what is going on in the world is we have to remain connected to the Unshakable Kingdom.

Hebrews 12:28 (AMP): Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe. Notice, the attitude we are to have in the Unshakable Kingdom is one of thankfulness. Being thankful signifies that you have received something. Worship is our response to the greatness and majesty of the Lord…so this Kingdom is a Kingdom in which you are receiving the goodness of God; this Kingdom is a Kingdom in which you are seeing the Lord in His majesty. That doesn’t sound like we have anything to fear; it doesn’t sound like bad news; it sounds like this Kingdom is a place that cannot be shaken! So walk in this reality of the Unshakable Kingdom!
