The Good Fight : Pastor Tony Samuels
Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession; That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ: - 1 Timothy 6:12-14
What an amazing Scripture! The Bible encourages us to fight the good fight of faith. The word fight means: battle or combat; any combat or struggle. As you can see, there is a fight going on in our world right now, on so many levels and for many different objectives. As Christians, we know this is simply a spiritual battle being played out in the natural. The Church of Jesus Christ is the only entity in the world that can combat and defeat the forces of darkness, and the enemy knows this. That’s why there have been recent attacks against the Body of Christ, especially in the area of health.
So what should be our response? It will be the same response, and the only response, until Jesus comes back…and that is to FIGHT. I want you to know that if you got sick during this battle, if you contracted the virus, it does not mean you don’t have faith, or that you don’t believe in God’s promises of healing. Do not be under any condemnation or guilt! It simply means that you are in a fight.
A fight in the natural is constantly shifting. One side looks like they are winning, then bam, the other side makes a comeback. But as long as both keep fighting, it’s not over! That what I feel like the Lord is saying to the church right now. If you get knocked down, recover yourself and get back up! The only way the enemy wins is if we allow the battle to sideline us, and cause us to retreat to a position of safety and convenience.
But Pastor, how long will this fight last? Well, it will continue until Jesus returns. But He is so good in the midst of it all, He allows us to enjoy sweet victories along the way. So fight by fixing your eyes on Jesus; fight by worshipping the Lord; fight by reading the promises of God over your life and your family; fight by walking in the Love of God. Fight by staying in faith!
Take care of yourself spiritually and physically, but don’t ever stop fighting the good fight of faith. It is a good fight because we win! Luke 18:8 says, “Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?” He will, as long as we continue to fight the good fight of faith.
God bless you. We love you, and we are standing, praying, and fighting alongside you and your family!
