Stand On The Word : Pastor Calvin Williams

Over the last 25 years, I have been asked how I stand by the Faith Home for so long. As stated in Matthew 6:33 (KJV): But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you. I also reference Joel 2:25 (KJV): And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you. First, I have always maintained a heart of thanksgiving for what God did in my life through this ministry. Second, no matter how unqualified I felt for a task set before me, I knew that with God, I was well equipped.

Let’s take a look at the word stand. It means: to assume position; to adopt a particular attitude toward a matter or issue. Another definition is: to stand with an experience or test without being damaged. Ephesians 6:13-14 (KJV) says, Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness. Another translation says to always remember at anytime, the enemy will attack. But we must always remember you’re qualified for the attack when it happens because of your position in God.

God loves us so much that He gives us His Word. As believers, we are to trust in His Word. The Word of God is the most powerful force given to us. The Word plants us to receive God’s blessings. In 1 Corinthians 15:58, Paul is giving us commands. He tells us to be steadfast (be FAITHFUL in the Lord; keep going), even if it doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen. He tells us to be IMMOVABLE, always abounding in the work of the Lord. We’ve got to always remember what the Word tells us. The Word says you can do all things through Christ Who strengthens you. Believe it! If He said it, He can do it. The Word says that no weapon formed against you shall prosper. Line up, and receive those promises from God!
