Living The Above Life : Bishop Tony Samuels
We are living in a time like no other. A lot of people are saying we live in uncertain times…but we as believers don’t have to live in uncertainty, because the God we serve is not uncertain; He is very certain, and He will certainly do what He said He would do. It’s time for us to live at a higher level, a level I call the Above Life. The Lord has not called us to be overcome; He has called us to be overcomers. 1 John 4:5 (KJV) says, For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
So what is the Above Life? Take a look at the Apostle Paul’s prayer for the Church in Ephesians 1:19-20 (TPT): I pray that you will continually experience the immeasurable greatness of God’s power made available to you through faith. Then your lives will be an advertisement of this immense power as it works through you! This is the mighty power that was released when God raised Christ from the dead and exalted him to the place of highest honor and supreme authority in the heavenly realm! Paul is praying for us to realize that the same power that raised Christ from the dead now dwells in us. If this power was able to override the power of death, and raise Christ up above it, then there is nothing in this life that can keep us down. The power to overcome is in us, but we must activate it by faith.
While He was here on the earth, Jesus lived the Above Life. There was nothing on this earth that could stop His mission, as Acts 10:38 (AMP) shows us: …how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with great power; and He went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, because God was with Him. If we are going to live the Above Life, we need to transition from needing deliverance to becoming deliverers. This is going to happen when you win your personal battles; then you can begin to be used by God to set others free.
To live this Above Life, you are going have to watch the information that you are hearing. (Please turn off the news!) You have to feed on information that is going to feed your God nature. Information has the ability to lift your life up or to sink your life.
To live this Above Life, you are going to have to be a man and woman of prayer. James 5:16 (AMP) says, …The heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous man (believer) can accomplish much [when put into action and made effective by God—it is dynamic and can have tremendous power]. Prayer is how we tap into this power. Jesus was a prayer warrior. As you look at His life, you see that He always took time to pray to the Father. In prayer, you give and you receive.
No matter what happens in this world, do not fear. 1 Timothy 1:7 (KVJ) says, For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Fear will open up the door for the enemy to sink your life, but faith in God will keep you above the things that everyone else is afraid of. So, my brothers and sisters, awake to the reality of your position in Christ. Every circumstance is under your feet! Live the Above Life!
