Living In The Overflow Part Two : Bishop Tony Samuels
“When a demon is cast out of a person, it roams around a dry region, looking for a place to rest, but never finds it. Then it says, ‘I’ll return to the house I moved out of,’ and so it goes back, only to find that the house is vacant, warm, and ready for it to move back in. So it goes looking for seven other demons more evil than itself, and they all enter together to live there. Then the person’s condition becomes much worse than it was in the beginning. This describes what will also happen to the people of this evil generation.”
Matthew 12:43-45
What an amazing Scripture, one that gives us insight into the spiritual realm! One of the things Jesus purchased for us was freedom. The Bible says that whom the Son sets free is free indeed. But we must understand that freedom is not an event; freedom is a lifestyle. Your lifestyle will determine if you continue to maintain your freedom. I have learned that true freedom comes from a strong relationship with the Lord; that Jesus must be the center of our lives. Colossians 3:3 says, For [as far as this world is concerned] you have died, and your [new, real] life is hidden with Christ in God. So for us to experience true life, we have to live our lives totally submerged in the life of Christ. The direction of your whole life should be taking you closer to God. This is the only way you can live in the overflow and maintain your freedom in Christ. And don’t hang out in dry places!
So the above Scripture lets us know that demons can be evicted out of our lives…but those things that God evicts will try to gain access back into our lives. The only way to maintain freedom is live on full, and not just full, but live in the overflow of God. Ephesians 5:18 says, And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit. So we are supposed to live our lives on full with the Holy Spirit, and this will deny the enemy access into our lives. He may show up, but when you are full of God, he will see in the spirit a sign that says “No Vacancy,” and he will have to move on. Acts 10:38 says, How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. You see, when you are filled with Him, God will use your life to evict the devil out of other people’s lives. When Jesus showed up, He brought the overflow of God and drove the enemy out of people’s lives. A lot of times, Jesus didn’t even have to do anything; just His Presence tormented the devil.
So how do we stay in the overflow? We have to be addicted to the Presence of God. Psalms 16:11 says, Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. So when we spend time in the Presence of God, He will fill us to overflow; He will baptize us, and we will experience a joy that this world can never take away because it’s not based on the world; it’s based on Him.
I believe that this year, God is going to do great things through the local Church. Remember, last year there was an attack to close churches down. Why is the enemy terrified of the local Church? Because he knows what Jesus said about it, that the gates of hell will not prevail against the Church. The Church is the place where the Body of Christ gathers consistently every week; it’s a place filled to overflow with God; the place where God meets His children corporately. It’s like the house where all the family goes to meet and eat. It’s a place of power; a place of strength; a place where we experience God. Lighthouse Freedom Center family, this is the year to stand in the Overflow of God!
