Living In The Overflow : Bishop Tony Samuels

As we look at our society, we can see that there are two directions being taken. The world is going further away from God in their ideologies and beliefs, arriving at a dry, unspiritual place. As this happens, the Lord is taking His Remnant Church deeper into His Presence, deeper into His river, and it is all designed to produce His overflow. The book of Joel 2:23-24 explains it well: “Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month. And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the vats shall overflow with wine and oil.” So God’s rain, which is the Presence of the Holy Spirit, will produce God’s overflow.

We must remember that if God is going to do something in the earth, He is going to do it through His Church. Philippians 2:13 says, “…for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.” So God is going to fulfill His purpose in the earth through us, the Church of Jesus Christ. The Lord sees the land, that it is dry and thirsty, and He is ready to pour out His Spirit upon it…and it’s going to be through us.

This is the time for the Church to press into the Presence of God, and live in a place of overflow. Overflow means: to flow or run over, as rivers or water. John 7:38 says, “He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.” It becomes overflow when a container cannot contain any more of a substance and the substance begins to break out of the container…then anything around the container becomes affected by the substance.

Look at what David said in Psalms 23:5 (KJV): “…thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.” God is not a “just enough” God; He is a “more than enough” God! The Lord does not have a problem when we ask for more of His presence in our lives. But if you are asking for more, you’d better make room, and get ready for the overflow of His Presence. You see, the overflow is for the world around us. The Lord wants them affected by His Presence in us…but for them to be affected, it has to come out of us; this happens in the overflow. Your hunger for God will determine how much you contain of God; your hunger for God is your invitation to God to come and fill you. Matthew 5:6 says, “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” So live empty on self, and full for God!

As we conclude this 21-Day Fast, when you gave up whatever you fasted for the Lord, you made room for more of His Presence. Now the tone has been set for you to live in His Overflow!!!

Be Blessed,
