Living In The Dream Part 2 : Bishop Tony Samuels
Truth’s shining light guides me in my choices and decisions; the revelation of your Word makes my pathway clear. - Psalms 119:105
To walk in and see the fulfillment of the dream that God has for you, you are going to have to walk in radical obedience to the Lord. Now, when I talk about obedience, I am not talking about the law, and I am not talking about perfection. I am talking about an attitude; a condition of the heart. Isaiah 1:19-20 says, If you have a willing heart to let me help you, if you will obey me, you will feast on the blessings of an abundant harvest. But if you are stubborn and refuse to obey, the sword will eat you instead. The mouth of Yahweh has spoken. Notice, it says if you be willing; this means prompt to act or respond. I will add this: being adjustable and adaptable to what the Lord wants…not my will, but His will.
You see, without a heart of obedience, the Lord will not be able to fully lead and guide you into your dream and destiny. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, Trust in the Lord completely, and do not rely on your own opinions. With all your heart rely on him to guide you, and he will lead you in every decision you make. Become intimate with Him in whatever you do, and He will lead you wherever you go. To walk in obedience to God, you are going to have to trust Him with all your heart. You are going to have to trust Him when His instructions make no sense; you are going to have to trust Him in seasons that seem meaningless. Without this, you begin to retake control of your life, when it’s only God who can bring you into the dream that He has for your life.
Another reason you must walk in obedience to God is because when you walk in obedience, you walk in light. Psalms 119:105 says, Truth’s shining light guides me in my choices and decisions; the revelation of your Word makes my pathway clear. So when you get out of obedience, the light goes out and deception comes in. The voice of a stranger begins to take control of your life, and you don’t even realize that you are being taken away from the path of the fulfillment, the path of your dreams. The Bible says that there is a way that seems right, but it only leads to death.
When you lose light, you become spiritually blind. Look at what Jesus said about this in Matthew 15:14: “Do you know what happens when a blind man pretends to guide another blind man? They both stumble into a ditch!” You see, the dream that God has for you represents His will for your life. The enemy is doing everything in his power to stop you from seeing the fulfillment. He knows if he can get you into disobedience, you won’t arrive at your dream; you will arrive in a ditch.
The opposite of obedience is rebellion. Let’s look at what the Bible says about rebellion. 1 Samuel 15:23 says, For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. So, God calls disobedience to Him rebellion, and He said it is in the same category as witchcraft. Wow, no Christian wants to be a witch!
The thing that powers rebellion is stubbornness. This means that you are perversely unyielding, difficult to handle and manage. You see, we all have the ability to be stubborn, and if used in the right way, it can protect our lives from sin and destruction. But used in the wrong way, against God, it has the ability to wreck our lives. In Psalm 32:8-9, the Lord says to you, “I will stay close to you, instructing and guiding you along the pathway for your life. I will advise you along the way and lead you forth with my eyes as your guide. So don’t make it difficult; don’t be stubborn when I take you where you’ve not been before. Don’t make me tug you and pull you along. Just come with me!”
Sounds simple, to let the One who knows all, the One who loves us more than anyone, to lead us and guide us into the dream that He has for our lives. It is simple, and it is the conclusion of the matter. Solomon, the man of wisdom, said this in Ecclesiastes 12:13: When all has been heard, the end of the matter is: fear God [worship Him with awe-filled reverence, knowing that He is almighty God] and keep His commandments, for this applies to every person.
So, my brothers and sisters, stay in obedience; it’s the pathway to your dream!
Be Blessed,
