Fasting For Supernatural Breakthrough : Bishop Tony Samuels
Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the Lord shall be thy reward. - Isaiah 58:8 (KJV)
Do you need something special from the Lord in 2022? Do you need something that your resources cannot fulfill? Then I want to encourage you to unlock the power of fasting. Fasting is abstaining from food for a period of time, replacing that time with spending time with the Lord, for the purpose of a reward. Matthew 6:16-18 explains, Moreover, when you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with a sad countenance. For they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, so that you do not appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
Fasting is something that is done between you and the Lord, and when you do it before the Lord, He will reward you in the open. I believe the corporate fast this year is more important than ever. Because of the condition of the world, the church has to go to another level. We must realize, if Jesus had to fast, we must fast.
Matthew 4:1 says, Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry. Notice, it says that He was led into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil, and that during this time He was fasting for 40 days. Fasting brought Jesus to a place in His spiritual walk where He was able to defeat the enemy…but look at what the Bible says happened after the fast and the testing.
Luke 4:13-14 says, And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season. And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about. Fasting brought Jesus to where He was moving in the power of the Holy Spirit. Why is this significant? Because His power is not like our power; His power is unlimited. Jesus was able to break through, and He was able to bring breakthrough into other people’s lives. This fast is going to impact you first, and then the results will expand (bring expansion) out of your life and into other people’s lives that come into contact with you.
I believe the best way to motivate people to fast is to tell them about the benefits of fasting. A lot of people are believing the Lord for open doors, and fasting is one of those keys that can open doors that no man can shut. Look at Acts 13:1-2: As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, “Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.” And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away. Notice, God spoke and gave direction when they were fasting and ministering to the Lord. The ministry expanded that day, beyond the church, and these people were sent out into their callings.
LFC, it’s our time to use this key to unlock great expansion, individually and corporately, in 2022. This Tuesday, January 18th, we will be starting our 21-Day Corporate Fast until Monday, February 7th. Ask the Lord what He would have you to do, and get ready to receive great expansion in 2022!
