Victorious Living In The Last Days : Pastor Tony Samuels

As we look at the times we are living in, there is absolutely no doubt that we are living in the last days. The good thing for us as believers is the Lord knows exactly what is going on. We are seeing what He said was going to happen, actually happening. To be victorious in the times we are living in, there are truths that we must not allow to slip; we have to be established in them. The enemy’s objective is to promote fear, but faith in truth will neutralize fear and have you living in victory.

Psalms 112:7-8 (AMPC) says, He shall not be afraid of evil tidings; his heart is firmly fixed, trusting (leaning on and being confident) in the Lord. His heart is established and steady, he will not be afraid while he waits to see his desire established upon his adversaries. He combats evil tidings with an established heart, a heart full of faith. Notice, his heart is established. Established means: to build, or bring into being on a firm or stable basis. The Lord wants His people to be stable in unstable times, and it is connection to His truth that will keep you stable.

Ephesians 4:14 (AMPC) says, So then, we may no longer be children, tossed [like ships] to and fro between chance gusts of teaching and wavering with every changing wind of doctrine, [the prey of] the cunning and cleverness of unscrupulous men, [gamblers engaged] in every shifting form of trickery in inventing errors to mislead. This is not the time to change the way we live our lives before God. The same doctrine that the Lord gave you to bless your life is the same way you need to continue to live your life. This is not the time for a new thing; this is the time to stick with what has been proven in our lives.

The man or woman who lives by faith will never have the change the way they live based on the changing culture around us. Hebrews 2:1 (TPT) says, This is why it is so crucial that we be all the more engaged and attentive to the truths that we have heard so that we do not drift off course.

I love the story of King David, when he was about to fight Goliath. He had a meeting in the tent with King Saul, who was questioning David’s ability to defeat Goliath. King Saul thought he would help David out by offering David his battle armor. Look at David’s reply to this in 1 Samuel 17:38-39 (KJV): And Saul armed David with his armour, and he put an helmet of brass upon his head; also he armed him with a coat of mail. And David girded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them. And David put them off him. I honestly believe David would have lost the battle if he had used Saul’s armor. To put faith in something that he never saw work in his personal life would have been a recipe for disaster. Be careful in this season that you don’t let well-meaning people put a label on you that doesn’t represent you. Be cordial, but be bold enough to say, “I can’t wear that. Thanks, but no thanks!”

The Apostle Paul encouraged his son, Timothy, to stick with the truth that he learned. 2 Timothy 3:13-14 (AMP) says, But evil men and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. But as for you, continue in the things that you have learned and of which you are convinced [holding tightly to the truths], knowing from whom you learned them. A great truth we must walk in is Hebrews 13:8 (AMP): Jesus Christ is [eternally changeless, always] the same yesterday and today and forever. This is a powerful truth, that Jesus never changes. He is the same in the past, present, and future.

I can look at the history of the Bible, or the history of my personal life, and know exactly what the Lord is going to do. When have we seen the Lord leave His people? When have you seen the Lord not provide for His people? When have you seen the Lord not protect His people? This is a truth that you must be established in. Of course, there are many more truths, more than enough to combat the things that are going on in our world. 2 Corinthians 2:14 (AMP) says, But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us spreads and makes evident everywhere the sweet fragrance of the knowledge of Him. Remember, we are not trying to obtain victory; we are already in victory! Everything we do is from the place of His victory!
