The Master Key : Pastor Tony Samuels
When you see a key in the natural, the question arises…what does that key open? it could be a door, a safe, a car; but everyone understands it opens one thing. In some cases, there is a key called a master key. A master key does not just open one thing; it opens many things. In the Kingdom of God, there is a key that will not only give you access to one thing; it will give you access to many things. The master key is seeking the Presence of the Lord.
The vision of the Lighthouse is discipleship, but discipleship without the Presence of God is just religion. Seeking the Presence of God will empower your discipleship. While they were in the Presence of Jesus, the disciples seemed unstoppable. They were as bold as lions, as long as Jesus was near. But when Jesus was taken away, they ran, and forgot everything that He had taught them. This is symbolic. In the Presence of Jesus, we are unstoppable; we are bold. But without His Presence, we are mere men, subject again to the things of the world.
When you are someone who is seeking first the Presence of God, you will always be in the right place, at the right time. If God’s Presence is there, everything will work out for you. Moses understood this. Look at what he said concerning the Presence of the Lord: Exodus 33:15 says, “If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here.” It’s amazing that Moses’ priority was not the Promised Land; it was the Presence of the Lord! He would rather have stayed in the wilderness with the Presence of the Lord, then go into the Promise Land without Him. Moses knew God’s Presence was the master key to everything else. Psalm 16:11: “You will show me the path of life; in your Presence is fullness of Joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” In His Presence Is fullness of Joy and pleasures. It’s all in His Presence!
When we make it about His Presence, everything else in life will fall in place effortlessly. This is a Kingdom principle, a master key that will open up every door. Mathew 6:33 says, “So above all, constantly chase after the realm of God’s Kingdom and the righteousness that proceeds from Him. Then all these less important things will be given to you abundantly.” Notice, it says above all chase after Him, and the less important things will be given. Failure comes when we start chasing the less important thing. We start striving, and trying to open doors with keys that don’t fit. When you change your focus, and put it on Him, everything changes, and the doors will begin to open effortlessly.
There is a story in the Bible of two sisters Jesus went to see. Upon His arrival, one sister chose to sit in His Presence, while the other was preoccupied with household duties. The second sister actually got upset with the sister who was sitting in His Presence, and she complained to the Lord Himself about this. Take a look at His reply to her in Luke 10:41-42: “The Lord answered her, ‘Martha, my beloved Martha. Why are you upset and troubled, pulled away by all these many distractions? Are they really that important? Mary has discovered the one thing most important by choosing to sit at my feet. She is undistracted, and I won’t take this privilege from her.’” Jesus celebrated the sister who chose to sit in His Presence! He said it was the most important thing; He said she was undistracted, and that He would not take that privilege away from her.
You see, when we put His Presence first, it puts our lives in order. The things we are concerned about, He will take care of. We are living in a time where we need to be in the Presence of God for direction, protection, and provision. If you study the Bible, wherever God’s Presence was meant victory for the people of God. It became so real that when enemy nations saw the Ark of the Covenant, which represented the Presence, they were struck with fear. They knew they were not only fighting against Israel; they were fighting against God Himself.
So let me ask you something…what doors are you believing God to open for you? My next question: what key are you using? Don’t waste time using keys that don’t work. Pick up the master key; go after His Presence! Psalms 34:10 sums it up: “The young lions lack and suffer hunger; but those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing.”
