The Key Of Commitment : Bishop Tony Samuels
Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun. - Psalms 37:5-6 (NIV)
There is something that happens in your Christian walk when you make a decision to commit your life to God Almighty. It is the ultimate step of faith. When I talk about a commitment, I am talking about a serious decision; that you are going to commit your entire life to the Lord. Sometimes the reason things are not happening in our lives the way they're supposed to is because we haven't fully committed. Commitment is a Kingdom Key.
The investment that a husband makes versus the investment a boyfriend makes cannot be compared. What’s the difference? One made a decision to commit to the relationship, while the other is still trying to figure it out. The Lord wants to invest all of His goodness into your life. So what’s the hold up? Have you made the decision to commit your life to the Lord?
In Psalms 15 (KJV), the Bible asks an amazing question. It says in verse 1, Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? Who shall dwell in thy holy hill? Who gets to abide? Well, in verse 4 it says: He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not. A lot of times when we make commitments, they are based on favorable circumstances. But you must understand, circumstances will change. We have to make sure that our commitment to the Lord never changes, that it is not based on circumstances; it's based on our love for Him. Sounds like a marriage!
In the natural, an employer is going to be more committed to a full-time employee than a temporary employee. A full-time employee will get a benefit package that is not available for the temp. What’s the difference? One is committed to the company, and one is not. When you commit to the Lord, He will begin to release benefits into your life.
Proverbs 16:3 (AMP): Commit your works to the Lord [submit and trust them to Him], And your plans will succeed [if you respond to His will and guidance]. Commitment to the Lord will always produce success. When you make a commitment to the Lord, it will bring stability into your life. You will go from living life on turbulent waters to living your life on a solid foundation. James 1:6-8, (TPT) says, For the ambivalent person believes one minute and doubts the next. Being undecided makes you become like the rough seas driven and tossed by the wind. You’re up one minute and tossed down the next. When you are half-hearted and wavering it leaves you unstable.
Can you really expect to receive anything from the Lord when you’re in that condition? Being undecided, half-hearted, or double-minded puts our receiving from the Lord on hold.
Don’t get distracted by man. This commitment is between you and the Lord. A lot of times, we delay commitment because we struggle to trust. Place your trust in the right place; put it with the Lord, because He is ready to do great things in your life. We are not waiting on God; He is waiting on us. I leave you this; 2 Chronicles 16:9 (NLT) says, For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.
