Persistence Equals Breakthrough : Bishop Tony Samuels

When you take a stand of faith for God, it’s very important that you see it through. When you receive a direction from God, it’s imperative that you maintain that course until you manifest what God is desiring for your life. I think what happens is, we don’t anticipate opposition and resistance to what God is doing in our lives. The enemy does not want us to see the manifestation of what God has promised. If you can remain persistent instead of being worn down, you will wear down the enemy, and then you will come to the place of supernatural breakthrough. Persistent means: to continue steadfastly or firmly in some state, purpose, course of action, or the like, especially in spite of opposition. We are living in a time where there is a definite attack against the things of God, and if there was ever a time we needed to step up our spiritual game, it is now.

Your persistence is connected to your acceptance, to you accepting who God has called you to be. The place of acceptance becomes the place of the battle. Hebrews 10:32 says, Don’t you remember those days right after the Light shined in your hearts? You endured a great marathon season of suffering hardships, yet you stood your ground. The warfare of the believer and the warfare of the sinner is completely different. Paul talks about the believer’s warfare in 2 Corinthians 10:3-5: For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ…

The battle is for the knowledge of God. Hosea 4:6 says, My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Once we accept the knowledge, the battle begins to make you lose sight of the knowledge. Once God gives you revelation knowledge of what He wants to do in your life, you don’t let it go; you accept it, you believe it, you fight for it no matter what.

If you see someone walking in what God has for their life, know this: they had to walk through extreme opposition to arrive at that place of breakthrough. Psalms 66:12 says, Thou hast caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water: but thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place. Notice, it says they went through. They didn’t stop; they didn’t make a camp; they kept moving. Make sure you don’t get stuck in a tunnel of tribulation. Just keep moving, and you will come to the end of the tunnel, and break through into the Glory of God!

I believe we are in the last of the last days, and with any race, the coach would tell you to finish strong. So stay persistent; your breakthrough is right around the corner.

God Bless,
