Don't Cap Yourself : Pastor Tony Samuels

One of the amazing things that Jesus did for you and me is to change our spiritual position back to the position that was given to us in the beginning. Genesis 1:26 says: And God said, let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion. Notice, God’s original intent was for man to have dominion. That means creation would be subject to man, not man being subject to creation. The word subject means to be under; dominating control or influence. The Lord wants us to be above the things of this world.

Jesus came to set things back in order when He came to Earth, and through His death, burial, and resurrection, things have been brought back to the original order. Ephesians 1:22-23 explains: and He put all things in every realm in subjection under Christ’s feet, and appointed Him as [supreme and authoritative] head over all things in the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills and completes all things in all. Everything is in subjection under Christ’s feet, and we the Church are His body. Just like He is above everything, so we are above everything. Jesus did the hard part, but for us to partake of this new position, we have to align every area of our lives with this truth.

If we are going partake of everything that He has done for our lives, we have to set ourselves in agreement with Him. What I notice is that when life presents us with a situation that is contradictory to what He said, and we begin experiencing results that are subpar, we find a way to settle for it. We even begin to justify it. We come up with reasons according to the world why it is so. When we do this, we have just put a cap on our lives in that area.

The first thing we must settle for ourselves is that there is no condition that life presents to us that God has called us to lose in. 2 Corinthians 2:14 says: Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place. Notice, it said always causes us to triumph. Always means always. When we are not triumphant, we have to be careful that we don’t get into the realm of excuses.

Excuse means: to serve as an apology or justification for; to justify. What an excuse does is to actually defend loss. An excuse, if we are not careful, will actually cap us, and we will never rise above the level of that excuse. The information that we hear, believe, and repeat, puts our lives in subjection to that information. When we triumph in Christ, we manifest the knowledge of God in that place. When we settle for loss, we are manifesting the knowledge of the world system.

As you begin to really study the Word and see all that God has said, you will begin to realize that He has planned for us to win in this life, period. Deuteronomy 28:13 says: And the Lord shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath. Nowhere in the Bible will you find God giving us any excuse to lose in life. We are a supernatural people who serve a supernatural God. To be supernatural means we have the capacity to change things in life, with a greater power that is beyond us.

The children of Israel made a huge mistake when they let the information of ten men put a cap on their God-given destiny. Because they believed the wrong information, they never entered into the promise that God had for them. The wilderness was as far as they could go, even though God wanted more for them. So, my brothers and sisters, don’t let this world or anyone else put a cap on your life. We serve an unlimited God Who has an unlimited destiny for us!
