Coming Out : Pastor Tony Samuels

So David departed from there and escaped to the cave of Adullam; and when his brothers and all his father’s house heard about it, they went down there to him. Everyone who was suffering hardship, and everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was discontented gathered to him; and he became captain over them. There were about four hundred men with him

1 Samuel 22:1-2 (AMP)

When you are a carrier of prophetic destiny, you must be prepared to walk on the path that is going to lead you into it. When the enemy discerns that your life is a life that God is going to use mightily, you’re instantly put on the hit list. In the story of King David, he received a word from the Lord about his future. You must understand that David did not ask for the word; he was chosen. The minute his identity was revealed, the attacks against his life began to manifest. This attack was so bad, he had to leave his homeland, and David was eventually driven into the cave of Adullam. Adullam means: a hiding place. What’s amazing is in this cave, David was joined by men who were in a rough place in their own lives; this was confirming that David had the calling to be a leader upon his life, and the Bible says he became a commander over them.

The danger with this cave is it stopped David’s progress. He was driven there by fear and the attacks of the enemy; this cave was a place of silence and stagnation. But God is so awesome that even when we find ourselves in the caves of life, He will always send a word right in the middle of it. 2 Samuel 22:5 (AMP) says, Then the prophet Gad said to David, “Do not remain in the stronghold; leave, and get into the land of Judah.” So David left and went into the forest of Hareth. The prophet told David to get out of the cave and go to the land of Judah. When we talk about the land of Judah, we are talking about the land of praise. This is what God wants us to do when we are in a situation that is not good.

He does not want us to hide; He wants us to come out and praise Him. Praise is not about changing God; it’s about changing you, and getting you into position to receive what has already been done. The Cave was not the place of receiving; it was a place of losing. It was a place that would eventually put to death every dream that the Lord had for David’s life. It was a place of silence; he had to come out of it. Psalms 115:17 (NKJV) says, The dead do not praise the Lord, Nor do any who go down into silence. The cave of silence is a dangerous cave; it’s a place where the atmosphere around your life begins to change; it’s the place where the enemy begins to speak to you; it’s the place where discouragement is birthed; it’s the place where your joy is stolen; it’s the place where dreams are aborted. Sometimes a cave can be a physical location that is beyond your control. Still, don’t go silent… come out of it!

Acts 16:24-26 (NKJV) says, Having received such a charge, he put them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks. But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed. Paul and Silas refused to let their situation dictate their response to the Lord. They made a decision to come out of their feelings and the gravity of their situation, and because of that, God brought them out of that prison.

What would happen if you make a decision: I am not staying in the caves of discouragement, disappointment, rejection, etc.? You will trigger the move of God in your life, and the Lord Himself will get behind your decision to come and bring you out Himself. Psalms 40:2-3 (TPT): He stooped down to lift me out of danger from the desolate pit I was in, out of the muddy mess I had fallen into. Now he’s lifted me up into a firm, secure place-and steadied me while I walk along his ascending path. A new song for a new day rises up in me every time I think about how he breaks through for me! Ecstatic praise pours out of my mouth until everyone hears how God has set me free. Many will see his miracles; they’ll stand in awe of God and fall in love with him!
