Fire For The Day of Adversity : Pastor Tony Samuels

For our God is a consuming fire. - Hebrews 12:29

The fire of God in your life is maintained by your focus on God. The enemy is only able to put our fire out by distracting us with the things of this World. The Bible says that when the sower sows the Word, the devil comes immediately to take away the Word that is sown in our hearts.

When I talk about the fire of God, I am talking about passion and desire for God that comes from Him. I am talking about being addicted to God; you have to have more of Him. It’s a place you find in God that you don’t ever want to leave. The Bible says that God is a consuming fire. When His fire gets on the inside of you, it will consume everything out of your life that is not like Him.

Look at Mathew 3:11-12: I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. But he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: Whose fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire. John the Baptist talked about this fire. He said he was baptizing people in water, which is symbolic. You can dry water off! But there was one coming who would baptize the people in the Holy Ghost and Fire, a fire he called an unquenchable fire! Unquenchable fire means it is a fire that cannot be put out. If you possess this fire, your walk with God will never be put out, no matter what you go through. To baptize means to dunk and completely submerge. Jesus wants us to be dunked and submerged in the Holy Ghost and Fire.

The disciples had a higher commitment level to Jesus than the followers.  But before the day of Pentecost, the day of fire, they were unable to maintain that commitment level. It was on the day of Pentecost that they received the fire from heaven that allowed them to fulfill their commitment to Christ. The same disciples that ran on the day of adversity, after they received the fire of God, became the pillars of the Church of Jesus Christ. On that day of Pentecost, the Bible says the room that they were in was filled with the Holy Ghost But what was in the room got on the inside of them, and they were never the same That fire produced a boldness that was radical. The disciples who once ran couldn’t run anymore; they never went backwards again, but continued to go forward and advance the Gospel of Jesus Christ through any obstacle that arose.

The recent events that took place in the world could happen again; but don’t be concerned about that. Focus on your relationship with Christ, and let Him baptize you and fill you with the Holy Ghost and His fire, and you will not retreat; you will not stop moving forward. Ask the Lord to baptize you with the Holy Ghost and fire; begin to pray it daily over your life, and let’s take this fire to our Generation and into all the world!
