The Breakout : Pastor Tony Samuels
For thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left; and thy seed shall inherit the Gentiles, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited. - Isaiah 54:3 (KJV)
When you come to God, He will invest potential into your life; potential to become someone greater than you think. 2 Corinthians 4:7 (KJV) says, But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. One of the greatest miracles that the Lord does in our life is transformation. It’s amazing that the Lord takes nobodies and turns them into somebodies. 1 Corinthians 1:26-27 (KJV) says, For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty... You must understand, when God calls the foolish, they don’t remain foolish. When God calls the weak, they don’t remain weak; they become wise and strong men and women of God.
Even though the Lord has this amazing potential for our lives, there is still a deciding factor to make potential become a reality, and that is your acceptance and stepping into the identity that God has called you to be. Many times in the Bible when identity was revealed, the struggle was acceptance, because the individual couldn’t believe that God saw them like that. Look at this conversation between God and Moses in Exodus 3:10-11 (KJV): “Come now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring My people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.” But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?” You see, God had a plan for Moses to bring His people out. He was chosen, but Moses didn’t see himself as God’s deliverer. To walk in the the call to bring God’s people out, Moses had to break out of the limitations of his mind.
I am writing this to people who have potential, but you have been allowing limitations to restrict you and stop you from stepping into who God has created you to be. We all have a history, and the enemy knows our history. He will try to take who you were in your past and stop you from entering your future. Whenever you begin to break out, voices will begin to rise to remind you of who you were… but don’t let those voices make you stop; ignore them, and keep on moving into the new identity.
Sometimes people don’t step into the new because there is comfort in the old. They don’t want to go through the process of success and failure to become great. It’s easier to rest in the old, because you know it; there are no surprises. This is dangerous thinking, because if you don’t step into your future, you will begin to look back at your past and eventually return to it. Look at how the children of Israel responded to Moses when he was trying to get them to break out and they didn’t want to in Exodus 14:12 (AMP): Did we not say to you in Egypt, ‘Leave us alone; let us serve the Egyptians?’ For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians [as slaves] than to die in the wilderness.” Can you believe it? The place of transformation became so uncomfortable to them, they were willing to return to Egypt. They should have embraced the idea of dying in the wilderness. Of course, I am not talking about physical death, but the death of that old identity.
If you are going to break out, you will have to die to your old identity. Galatians 2:20 (NIV) says, I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. So are you ready to break out? It’s not just for us; it’s for a whole generation. I leave you with this: Romans 8:19 (TPT): The entire universe is standing on tiptoe, yearning to see the unveiling of God’s glorious sons and daughters!
Break Out & Be Blessed!
