Now you understand that I have imparted to you my authority to trample over his kingdom. You will trample upon every demon before you and overcome every power Satan possesses. Absolutely nothing will harm you as you walk in this authority.

Luke 10:19 (TPT)

To fully grasp what Jesus did on the Cross, you must understand God’s original intent for man. To understand this, you have to go to the beginning. You also have to go back to the beginning to understand the strategy of the enemy. Genesis 1:26 (NKJV) says, Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So we can see that from the beginning, man was never created to have anything rule over him; God gave man the authority to rule the earth.

Let’s look at the lie that caused them to lose their authority in Genesis 3:4-5 (KJV): And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. What! They were already like God!!! The enemy has the same method today… to make you think you don’t have something that God has already given you; and when this happens, you begin to reach for things and do things that actually neutralize your authority. He gets you to question; to hesitate; to doubt. It happened to them; it can happen to us. So they lost their position, and what they were once over was now over them. But the Lord had a plan from the beginning to flip the script, and put man back into authority through His Son, Jesus.

So let’s take a look at what Jesus did for us in Colossians 2:14-15 (TPT): He canceled out every legal violation we had on our record and the old arrest warrant that stood to indict us. He erased it all—our sins, our stained soul—he deleted it all and they cannot be retrieved! Everything we once were in Adam has been placed onto his cross and nailed permanently there as a public display of cancellation. Then Jesus made a public spectacle of all the powers and principalities of darkness, stripping away from them every weapon and all their spiritual authority and power to accuse us. And by the power of the cross, Jesus led them around as prisoners in a procession of triumph. He was not their prisoner; they were his! Jesus was absolutely victorious over the enemy. Everything he had against us, Jesus nailed to the Cross. What once held us captive, He took captive; He then stripped away all of their power.

The Apostle Paul echoes this victory in Ephesians 1:21-23 (TPT): And now He is exalted as first above every ruler, authority, government, and realm of power in existence! He is gloriously enthroned over every name that is ever praised, not only in this age, but in the age that is coming! And he alone is the leader and source of everything needed in the church. God has put everything beneath the authority of Jesus Christ and has given him the highest rank above all others. And now we, his church, are his body on the earth and that which fills him who is being filled by it! Hallelujah! His Authority is now our Authority. He is the head, and we are His body in the earth. Every devil in hell knows this, and the only thing the enemy can do to neutralize you and me is the same trick he used in the Garden… to make us think we don’t have something that we already have. Look at Colossians 2:8 (TPT): Beware that no one distracts you or intimidates you in their attempt to lead you away from Christ’s fullness by pretending to be full of wisdom when they’re filled with endless arguments of human logic. For they operate with humanistic and clouded judgments based on the mindset of this world system, and not the anointed truths of the Anointed One.

The most frustrating thing is to try to defeat something that is already defeated. It is more about walking and standing in the reality of what Christ did. Don’t get sucked back into a fight that has already been won. Our fight is not with the devil; that’s already won. Our fight is to stay living in the reality of Victory that Jesus gave to us, and to enforce the Victory that Jesus has already won. There is no way we can truly look at the truth of what Jesus did and think for a second that the enemy has any power over us. Colossians 2:10 (AMP) says, And in Him you have been made complete [achieving spiritual stature through Christ], and He is the head over all rule and authority [of every angelic and earthly power]. Just as it was in the beginning (complete), so it is now. My brothers and sisters, His Authority is now your Authority; all you have to do is walk in it!
