Activate : Pastor Tony Samuels

Christianity is a living religion/relationship that is alive. We serve a living God who is active; but He’s not just active… He’s active on the inside of us. Philippians 2:13 (AMP) says, For it is [not your strength, but it is] God who is effectively at work in you, both to will and to work [that is, strengthening, energizing, and creating in you the longing and the ability to fulfill your purpose] for His good pleasure. This is what separates Christianity from other religions; it not just us reaching out to God, but it is God actively participating in our lives, on the outside and on the inside of us.

We must awake to this living reality: Christ in us, the Hope of Glory! When you awake to it, you will begin to activate the dunamis power of God in your life. Many are satisfied with just watching those that are activating the power of God in their lives, having a type of spectatorship Christianity. We are wowed by individuals who actually possess the very thing we already have. A car has an engine with potential to move a 3,000 lb car down the road, but if the engine is off, it is just unseen potential. BUT, when you start it up, you have just activated great power to do something beyond human strength. Paul told his son Timothy to activate his power. He had allowed his power to go dormant, and found himself in a position where he was just languishing in a dormant state. Look at 2 Timothy 1:6 (AMP): That is why I remind you to fan into flame the gracious gift of God [that inner fire—the special endowment] which is in you through the laying on of my hands [with those of the elders at your ordination]. Paul had to remind Timothy of power that he had. He told Timothy he had to activate it again. Without activation, there will be no progress; without activation, there will be no sustained victory in our lives.

We are living in a time where there are so many distractions contending for our focus and attention. Many have neglected their spiritual life and have allowed it to go dormant, or just put it on cruise control. Look at Romans 12:11-12 (TPT): Be enthusiastic to serve the Lord, keeping your passion toward him boiling hot! Radiate with the glow of the Holy Spirit and let him fill you with excitement as you serve him. Let this hope burst forth within you, releasing a continual joy. Don’t give up in a time of trouble, but commune with God at all times. You see, we have to keep this passion activated on the inside, and not let distractions and the cares of this world put our fire out.

There are many ways to activate, but the best way, and the continued way, is we have to become people of prayer. Prayer is the place of activation. It is one of the greatest ways to redirect focus back to the Lord. This is the place where you connect back to God and you awaken your spirit man. James 5:16 (AMP) says, …The heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous man (believer) can accomplish much [when put into action and made effective by God—it is dynamic and can have tremendous power].

We can also activate by praying for others; we can activate by witnessing to people about Jesus. We activate when we Praise and Worship the Lord. I want to encourage you to stir up holy excitement back into your spiritual life, and watch what the Lord does through you. I leave you with this famous Scripture, Ephesians 3:20 (AMP): Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us. Let the power work in you!!!!! Activate!!!!!!

Be Blessed!
